Tamika L. Sims is an author, advocate, speaker, survivor, and creative entrepreneur. She is the proud mom of one son.
Tamika launched Ink Pen Diva Manuscript Critique Services, LLC in February 2014 to support new and veteran authors in their writing and publishing conquests.
Originally from South Carolina, Tamika survived a physically, sexually and emotionally abusive relationship of eight years. She did not let this stop her; in fact she used her pain for personal power and chose to publish a book about her experience. She released The Plus Factor, a memoir in September 2011. Winning the 2012 BWABC Literacy Rocks! Author of the Year Award. Tamika’s second title Brave will be released Fall 2014.
Tamika serves as a frequent lecturer at the University of South Carolina where her book is used as a text book in the Department of Women and Gender Studies.
She is a 2004 graduate of the United Way of the Midlands Blueprint for Leadership program. Tamika believes strongly in volunteerism, civic engagement and serving in her local community. She currently serves as an Advisory Council Member for the Young Woman to Woman Entrepreneur Association and is a member of the Sistercare Volunteer Speakers Bureau. Tamika is knowledgeable and well-versed in the subject matter of domestic and sexual violence, possessing almost 15 years of combined personal and professional experience.
She received the Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Information Technology from South University with a concentration in Database Administration.
Tamika has served as an expert in the areas of domestic violence and sexual assault for numerous NBC, FOX, CBS affiliates and numerous radio stations. She was featured as a “Person to Count On” by WIS News 10 (NBC).
